Design Process
Initial Consultation

The design process begins with an informal visit to your garden. During the visit we will discuss your requirements in detail and you can view my portfolio, which shows a wide variety of gardens which I have designed in the past. This will be followed by a written brief outlining your requirements and a quote to carry out the design.

If you decide you would like to go ahead and have your garden designed I will arrange a further visit to take measurements, collect soil samples, take photographs and complete a client checklist. This will ensure I have a detailed understanding of your needs, requirements, likes and dislikes and personal style to create the garden of your dreams. If your garden is on a larger scale then a professional surveyor may be required to ensure complete accuracy.

Concept Plan

Once I have all the information I need I will then return to the drawing board to create a concept plan drawn to scale in pencil showing initial ideas for the design including perspective sketches and ideas for hard landscaping materials and planting themes. A visit will be arranged for you to view the pencil draft to discuss any alterations that may need to be made before the final design is drawn up.

Master Plan

Once you have agreed the concept plan the master plan will be drawn to scale in ink and watercolour, complete with a detailed planting plan specifically suited to your garden's soil type and aspect if required. You will receive extra black and white copies of the design which can be passed on to contractors for tendering.
